Day 11. Friday, May 1.
This was our day to explore Portland. Our RV park was interesting, it seemed everyone was there for a dog show and had brought at least two of the same breed of dog:

That's the Bernese Mountain Dog. Not to be confused with Bernie's Mountain Dog.

Ah-cha-cha!
We caught a cab into the Pearl District of city in the morning and found a little diner for breakfast. In this area we noticed that they like mulberry a lot for jams and lemonades and stuff. They also like something called marionberry.

Not to be confused with Marion Berry.
Zip Zap Zow!
But seriously, what the hell is marionberry? My guess is it's mulberry with crack. We bought a small jar of jam, so we'll let you know. The street price wasn't too bad.
After Breakfast we went to Powell's City of Books which is arguable the largest book store in the solar system. It's pretty huge. The three of us spent at least an hour there wandering like fools, getting lost, and finding some books. We ended up with five between the three of us.
It was a sunny day so we then decided to walk a bit to Washington Park. This was a beautiful park on a hill with views of downtown and past that, Mt. Hood.
We spent most of the time just relaxing on the lawn reading our new books. Pops and I both snoozed a bit. After that we walked around the park to find it's various attractions.
After that, we found a very nice sports bar and watched the Wings take out Anaheim in game 1 of their series. It was very exciting too, with Lidstrom scoring the game winner with 50 seconds left. After that we returned to out dogs (and everyone else's) at our campground.
How did you get such a close up shot of Marion Berry in the wild? Crazy.
ReplyDeleteLOL- Nice one, Yoffy. I heard you have to say "crack" three times and he will appear in the wilderness. Better have some crack for him though.
